W. Amoko Advocates becomes ANL Law as it Enrolls Two New Partners

The firm of W. Amoko Advocates, formed last year, by former Oraro & Company Partner and legendary dispute resolution and litigation specialist, Walter Amoko, has rebranded to ANL Law. The firm also welcomed two new partners, transactional lawyer Nelly Mutungi and tax lawyer Lena Onyango, as it builds on its client promise of “big firm capabilities, small firm efficiencies.”

“We have rebranded to reflect the significant and exciting developments within the firm since we set up shop in February, last year, just before the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country…The firm is also more robust with two partners joining the firm team,” updated ANL Law in a statement released on the firm’s official LinkedIn page.

Nelly Mutungi, a former Partner at Oraro & Company, is an experienced transactional lawyer who enjoys a well-deserved sterling reputation. She has advised local and international clients in banking and securities, debt finance, project finance, asset finance, joint ventures, real estate transactions and negotiation of complex commercial contracts.

She has been ranked by the international directory IFLR1000 as ‘Highly Regarded’ in Banking and in the Real Estate Sector for 3 consecutive years and was recently featured in the 4th edition guide of the Europe, Middle East & Africa IFLR 100 Women Leaders for 2021 for ger outstanding expertise in financial and corporate practice.

Lena Onyango, a specialist tax lawyer, was recently recognized as one of the leading women in tax in Kenya. She has advised local and international clients in all aspects of tax law including corporate/income tax, VAT, excise duty, transfer pricing, constitutional as well as administrative law of tax law among other in both advisory and dispute resolution mandates.

Walter Amoko is hailed by Chambers Global 2021 as “a premier litigator” who is “extremely brilliant, strategic in his litigation skills and always a safe pair of hands” and “fearless in putting forward his client’s case.” He has acted in, and advised on, complex and high value domestic, regional and international commercial, employment, constitutional, public procurement, banking and tax matters.

Dianah Wanjeri Githuku is the Partner in charge of Litigation, Consultancy, Taxation and Legal Audit Department, an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya of 14 Years standing, a Tax Agent, a Patent Agent, a Notary Public and Commissioner of Oath. She holds Bachelors of Law Degree from Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law and is pursuing her Masters in Leadership and Governance.
